"Entrustment" chapter
嘱累品 ( Jpn Zokurui-hon )

The twenty-second chapter of the Lotus Sutra. In the previous (twenty-first) chapter, "Supernatural Powers," Shakyamuni Buddha makes a "specific transfer" of the Law of supreme perfect Enlightenment, the essence of the Lotus Sutra, to the Bodhisattvas of the Earth.

In this chapter, The Buddha makes a "general transfer" of the Lotus Sutra to all of the Bodhisattvas attending the assembly of the Lotus Sutra. Then all the Buddhas who have gathered from throughout the ten directions return to their respective lands, the treasure tower returns to its original place, and the place of the assembly shifts from the air back to Eagle Peak.

In the Lotus Sutra of the Wonderful Law, Kumarajiva's translation of the Sutra, this is the twentysecond of the twenty-eight chapters; but in the other versions—the Lotus Sutra of the Correct Law translated by Dharmaraksha and the Supplemented Lotus Sutra of the Wonderful Law by Jnanagupta and Dharmagupta, both containing only twenty-seven chapters—the "Entrustment" chapter is the final chapter.
