Ālaya-vjjñāna , Ālayavjjñāna ,alayavijnana : The central or universal consciousness which is the womb or ‘store’ (ālaya]]) consciousness. A term introduced by the Yogācāra School of Indian Bsm. (q.v.) For comparison with the Unconscious of Western psychology see Suzuki,[[ Zen Buddhism and Psychoanalysis (1960).
