Law Bright 法明如来 (Skt Dharmaprabhasa; Jpn Homyo-nyorai)

The Thus Come One Law Bright.

The name under which Purna, one of Shakyamuni Buddha's ten major disciples, will attain Buddhahood in the future, according to Shakyamuni's prophecy in the "Five Hundred Disciples" (eighth) chapter of the Lotus Sutra. In this chapter, concerning Purna's future enlightenment, Shakyamuni says:

"In the future too he will protect, uphold, aid, and proclaim the Law of immeasurable, boundless Buddhas, teaching, converting, and enriching immeasurable living beings, and causing them to turn toward supreme perfect enlightenment.

To purify the Buddha lands he will constantly apply himself with diligence, teaching and converting living beings. Little by little, he will become fully endowed with the way of the bodhisattva, and when immeasurable asamkhya kalpas have passed, here in the land where he is dwelling he will attain supreme perfect enlightenment.

He will be called Law Bright Thus Come One." Prabhasa in the Sanskrit name Dharma-prabhasa means light, brightness, or splendor; dharma means the Law.
