Ananda Buddhist Centre began life as The Meditation Society of Central Queensland in 1998, which was established by Laurence Khantipalo Mills of Bodhi Citta Buddhist Centre in Cairns, QLD as a result of his visit to Rockhampton. Our new name reflects our commitment to presenting a variety of Buddhist meditation practices for the community in Central Queensland. In additional to our weekly meditation sessions, the Centre arranges weekend residential retreats with visiting teachers once a quarter as well as eight-week Calm Abiding courses in Rockhampton and the surrounding area. Please see our Events page for more information about our ongoing calendar.
