Buddhayashas
仏陀耶舎 (n.d.) (Skt; Jpn Buddayasha)

An Indian monk and a translator of Buddhist scriptures into Chinese.

Born in Kashmir in ancient India, he went to Ch'ang-an in China in 408 at Kumarajiva's invitation and assisted him in his translation work.

The Chinese translations of The Fourfold Rules of Discipline and the Long Agama Sutra are attributed to Buddhayashas.

He returned to Kashmir in 412, and it is said that from there he sent his translation of the Space Treasury Sutra to China.
