transmigration with differences and limitations
分段生死 (Jpn bun-dan-shoji )

The transmigration of unenlightened beings among the six paths (the lower six of the Ten Worlds, from hell to the world of heavenly beings). In this repeating cycle of rebirth among the six paths, living beings are said to be born with limited life spans and in different forms according to their karma. This kind of transmigration is contrasted with "transmigration with change and advance," which refers to the transmigration of voice-hearers, cause-awakened ones, and bodhisattvas.
