About Us
International Buddhist Cham Shan Temple of Australia is a Buddhist Temple of Tiantai School situated in Morisset, located in the Central Coast of NSW.
The temple was founded in 1995 with the goal to serve the Australian community through Dharma teachings (teachings of the Buddha) and spiritual guidance.
To build the temple a piece of farm land was purchased in 1996, and through many hardships, it has developed into what it is today.
A building to the left of the grounds was completed in 2008, comprising of a chanting hall, library, etc. The chanting hall houses the statues of Amitabha Buddha, Kwan Yin (Avalokitesvara) Bodhisattva and Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva of Pureland.
Library service with a collection of Buddhist materials is also available for the public to borrow.
At the centre of the temple is Wei To (Skanda) Bodhisattva Shrine, built by Venerables and devotees. This shrine was completed in December 2014.
At the right side of the temple are the Kwan Yin Shrine and the Main Hall, which commenced construction in March 2015 and will soon to be completed.
The purpose of learning Buddhism is to awaken. It is very important to have righteous mind and righteous thinking. The temple provides a tranquil environment ideal for spiritual practice.
International Buddhist Cham Shan Temple of Australia is open to the public and welcomes Buddhist practitioners of all traditions and non-Buddhist people who are interested in learning about the Buddha and his teachings.

The temple follows traditional Chinese Buddhist practice through:
- Aspiring to cultivate compassion and wisdom through the keeping of the precepts and the cultivating of Samadhi and wisdom;
- Continuing to fulfill the wishes of the Buddha through right understanding, generating vows and practicing Dharma;
- Nurturing noble conduct, generating a pure and tranquil state of mind and eternal contentment.
At Cham Shan Temple, we aspire to nurture a pure and tranquil place of practice, creating a Pureland on Earth for all.
