Chinese wedding cakes are called " Dragon and Phoenix Cakes " or " Happiness Cakes," which are baked cake with dragon and phoenix patterns on the surface because dragons and phoenixes are the representatives of happiness and wonderful couples. The fillings of Dragon & Phoenix Cakes are made of lotus seed paste, red bean paste or green bean paste. The fillings are sweet, which means the sweetness of marriage life.

In Chinese tradition, the groom's family have gave the bride's family gifts, parts of which are always Dragon and Phoenix Cakes. Then bride's family will present some of the cakes to worship their ancestors and serve the rest of cakes to friends and relatives at the wedding parties and hope through sharing Dragon & Phoenix Cakes everyone can share the newlywed's happiness.
