Essence of Mind : Term used in Wong Mou-Lam’s translation of the Sutra of Hui-neng for Hsin (Jap. Shin), an untranslatable term for the Heart/Mind which is behind the ephemeral personality or skandhas, and, being already enlightened, needs but awakening to that fact.
