four infinite virtues
四無量心 (Jpn shi-muryoshin )

Boundless pity, boundless compassion, boundless joy, and boundless impartiality (or indifference). Pity, or maitri in Sanskrit, here is interpreted as giving living beings delight or happiness; compassion, or karuna, as removing their suffering; and joy, or mudita, as rejoicing at seeing beings become free from suffering and gain happiness. Impartiality, or upeksha, is interpreted as abandoning attachments to love and hatred and being impartial toward everyone. By the practice of these four virtues, one is said to be able to attain rebirth in the Brahma Heaven.
