Geshe Palden was born in 1976 in Sangkhar, Tibet He is the son of Kalsang Bam and Pomochok. At the age of nine, he began classes at the school in Sangkhar. In 1991, he joined Labrang Tashi Kyil Monastery in Amdo, Tibet where he studied the five major subjects of Tibetan Buddhist philosophy for fifteen years. In 2006, He completed his studies and graduated as First Master of Prajanaparamita with the Second Garch Degree -­‐-­‐ the Tenth Stage of the Master of Buddhist Texts. He was awarded the title of “Geshe” which signifies his high level of achievement in the mastering of Buddhist philosophy. From 2001 to 2004, he taught philosophy at Dhatsen Monastery and at Choeghar Monastery in Tibet. Palden arrived in India as a refugee on June 2, 2006. After one year he came to Tashi Kyil Monastery where his mentor, Alag Ridha, assigned him to teach Tibetan grammar: and language. He has also taught Buddhist philosophy at Tashi Kyil Monastery. This is Geshe Palden's first time as a member of the Tashi Kyil Tour Group and is new to the States.
