Reverence to Amideva, Protector of all those without refuge, destroyer of all untimely death, Defender of precious human existence! May your nectar of long life make Dharma teachers live exceedingly long lives, and may their missions be accomplished!
When I and other sentient beings perceive the signs of untimely death, may we in that very second see you, Amideva, and have you fill our bodies with your long life nectar, so that we may live a virtuous life for the benefit of all beings. And when we do experience death, may we see you coming to welcome and escort us, and may you guide us into the Pure Land of Bliss.
May your nectar of long life fill the bodies of all who live virtuous and compassionate lives. May they live long and may they encounter the true Dharma. May your blessed nectar fill the lives of all our friends and family, and may your infinite Light eradicate all diseases and obstacles.
Lord of Boundless Radiance, may my prayers for strangers cleanse the essence of their actions and have them seek a life of practice. In this life or the next, may they encounter your Holy Name. Make all beings live long years, for if they are blessed with your Holy Name, they will live virtuous lives, regardless of their past actions. I beseech you, Amideva, to be our constant refuge.
Reverence to Amideva! Infinite Light and Life, the principal guide of this world, the one who saves all sentient beings from untimely death, refuge for helpless suffering beings!
By this merit, may I swiftly attain Amideva’s grace. May all sentient beings without exception, attain this grace.
Just as the soft rains fill the streams, pour into the rivers, and join together in the oceans, so may the power of Amideva’s Promise flow forth to awaken and heal all beings –those here now, those gone before, and those yet to come.
By the power of Amideva’s Promise, may our heart’s wishes soon be fulfilled as completely shining as the bright full moon, as instantly as by a wish-fulfilling gem.
By the power of Amideva’s Promise, may all dangers be averted and all disease be healed. May no obstacle come across our way. May we enjoy fulfillment and long life.
For all in whose heart dwells respect, who follow the wisdom and compassion of the Way, may our lives prosper in the blessings of serene trust, virtue, longevity, and happiness.
Glorious one who overcomes all untimely death, Refuge for suffering beings without protection, to you, the Buddha of Infinite Life and Light, I bow!
