Kakemono ; A Japanese scroll-picture.

Painted with a brush and ink on silk or paper, and then mounted with rollers at top and bottom.

One displayed at a time in the Tokonoma (q.v.), the rest of the collection being rolled up and stored.

The subject may be religious or secular. Cp. Makimono.
