Rigdzin Düpa Practice Intensive

Friday 14th to Monday 17th February

Rigdzin Düpa, ‘The Gathering of Vidyadharas’, is the inner lama practice from the Longchen Nyingtik, the terma revelation of Jigmé Lingpa. This terma was transmitted to Jigme Lingpa from Longchen Rabjam, or Longchenpa, and this practice intensive commemorates the anniversary of Longchenpa, on Monday 17th February.

Yang Nying Pudri Drupchö

Monday 24th February to Sunday 2nd March

Yang Nying Pudri, ‘The Razor of the Innermost Essence’, a terma revelation of Terton Sogyal, Lerab Lingpa specifically for this time, eliminates delusion, negativity and spiritual pollution.

Yang Nying Pudri is a yidam practice of Vajrakilaya, who embodies the enlightened activity of all the Buddhas manifesting in an extremely wrathful form, subjugating the obstacles to spiritual development and peace in the world.

Within Tibetan Buddhism there is a tradition where, at the end of every (Tibetan) year, there is a focus to do practices that remove and purify obstacles and any negativity associated with the old year. It is Losar, Tibetan New Year, on Sunday 2nd March, therefore we are doing this drupchö of Yang Nying Pudri in the week leading up to it, ‘tuning in’ to the other powerful practices of Vajrakilaya that will be taking place around the world, such as at Dodrupchen Rinpoche’s monastery in Sikkim, India, and at Lerab Ling, Rigpa’s main international centre in France.

Riwo Sangchö Practice Intensive

Sunday 9th March

Riwo Sangchö, ‘Mountain Smoke Offering’, a terma revelation of the seventeenth century, is a practice of offering and purification. It is the most famous practice of sang, smoke offering, in Tibetan Buddhism and, as it is very auspicious to do it at the beginning of the New Year, we will be dedicating a full day to practice it.

Tendrel Nyesel Practice Intensive

Tuesday 11th to Sunday 16th March

Tendrel Nyesel, ‘Eliminating the Flaws of Interdependence’, is a special practice for eliminating, preventing, protecting against and transforming harm and conflict of every kind, inner, outer and secret, including that created by negative actions, disturbing emotions and mistaken perception.

It is famed as a practice dedicated specifically to averting the inauspiciousness of the times and is said to be one of the most powerful practices for bringing peace and stability in the world.

The practice of Tendrel Nyesel was revealed as a terma by Terton Sogyal, Lerab Lingpa, the previous incarnation of Sogyal Rinpoche and teacher to His Holiness the 13th Dalai Lama, in 1900, and this practice intensive commemorates the anniversary of Terton Sogyal on Tuesday 11th March and Chotrul Düchen, one of the four great annual festival days that are related to particular events in the Buddha’s life, on Sunday 16th March.

Chimé Phakmé Nyingtik Practice Intensive

Saturday 22nd to Tuesday 26th March

Chimé Phakmé Nyingtik, ‘The Heart Essence of the Sublime Lady of Immortality’, a long life practice revealed by Jamyang Khyentse Wangpo in 1855, is a unique practice featuring White Tara in union. It is an extremely powerful and profound practice and, through its power and blessings, many masters have been able to remove obstacles to their lives, allowing them to live long and effective lives supporting the dharma.

This practice intensive commemorates the anniversary of Jamyang Khyentse Wangpo on Saturday 22nd March.

Practice Intensives and Drupchö

This form of intensive group practice epitomizes the depth, power, and precision of Vajrayana, drawing together a range of skillful methods — mystical, ritual and artistic — to create the transcendent environment of the pure realm of the deity, and awaken, for all those taking part, the pure perception of this world as a sacred realm.

It is said that several days participating in such intensive group practice can yield the same results as years of solitary retreat.

Participating in the Practice Intensives and Drupchö

Everyone is welcome to attend these practices, for the whole of each period or only for a few days or sessions (as all sessions are complete in themselves). Please be aware that only those who have received an appropriate empowerment for each of the practice intensives can participate in the actual practice. Those without an appropriate empowerment are invited to do their own meditation practice, inspired by the environment of this practice.

Connecting with the Practice from Home

For those unable to attend these practice intensives and drupchö in person, you are invited to connect with these powerful practices at home through your own prayers and meditation practice. You may wish to deepen this connection by sending your dedication to either one, or all of these intensive practices and/or making a contributing towards it (see below).
