Urgyen Tulip Revival

Metta Vihara, the retreat centre for Belgium and the Netherlands, opened in 2012. To help fund that project they asked a bulb grower to create a tulip, which was named Urgyen, after Sangharakshita, the founder of the Triratna Buddhist Order and community.

Now the grower has stopped producing it but a Triratna friend, Kees van den Berg, son of a Dutch bulb grower himself, has collected some 18 remaining bulbs and over the coming years is going to restart...

First mainland European Going For Refuge retreat for women

This September, the Tiratanaloka team from Wales, UK, will join Order members from continental Europe to run an international ‘Going For Refuge’ retreat for women on mainland Europe for the first time.

Death of Vajragita

By Munisha on Sat, 29 Nov, 2014 - 21:54With sadness we report the death from cancer of Dharmacharini Vajragita, who died very peacefully at home in Amsterdam at around 18.00 local time today, in the company of her community. She was 76 years old.

Vajragita was ordained by Sangharakshita in 1981 in Seaford, Sussex, UK. Her yidam was Padmasambhava. A founder member of the sangha in the Netherlands, she lived and worked at Taraloka (UK) for several years. She recently became a Public preceptor.

Jan becomes Dhammavedin - “He who is inspired by the Dhamma”.

His private preceptor was Dhammaketu; his public preceptor Mahamati.
