Ocean of Meditation on The Buddha Sutra
観仏三昧海経 (Chin Kuan-fo-san-mei-hai-ching; Jpn Kambutsu-sammai-kai-kyo )

Abbreviated as the Meditation on The Buddha Sutra. A Chinese translation made in the early fifth century by Buddhabhadra, a Monk from northern India.

The Sanskrit original is not extant. According to the text of this Sutra, Shakyamuni preached the Ocean of Meditation on The Buddha Sutra at Nyagrodha Monastery in Kapilavastu to his father, King Shuddhodana, his aunt and foster mother, Mahaprajapati, and others.

The Sutra teaches that, by settling into Meditation on a Buddha, one can attain emancipation, and describes how to meditate on a Buddha, explaining the benefit of such Meditation.

It also describes a Buddha's thirty-two features and eighty characteristics, as well as the way to meditate on these qualities.
