Priit Kelder, PhD, graduated Tartu University in 1975, where he specialized in history. He was particularly interested in cultural history, mainly in the philosophy of oriental countries and in the history of religious teachings. He has published various works on the history and philosophy of China, also written about the history of oriental martial arts and aesthetic concept. What is common about his works, is


comparing the east with the life and traditions of the west. As an expert of oriental countries, he has worked in many institutions of higher education in Tallinn as a lecturer, as well performed in various conferences. During the Soviet era, Priit Kelder gave lectures about atheism in various universities in Tallinn, where he explained eastern religions, philosophy and culture. In the 1980s he gave lectures in Tallinn, Estonian Academy of Arts, as well in the


University of Culture, which made people curious about Buddhism and martial arts. Priit Kelder is one of the first to teach eastern martial arts in Estonia, the most favorite of them being Taijichüan. Priit Kelder is currently working as a lecturer in the Academy Nord.
