Tamalapattra Sandalwood Fragrance
多摩羅跋栴檀香如来 (Skt Tamalapattra-chandana-gandha or Tamalapatra-chandana-gandha; Jpn Tamarabatsu-sendanko-nyorai or Tamaraba-sendanko-nyorai)

    The Thus Come One Tamalapattra Sandalwood Fragrance. The name that Maudgalyayana, one of Shakyamuni's ten major disciples, will bear when he attains enlightenment, according to Shakyamuni's prediction in the "Bestowal of Prophecy" (sixth) chapter of the Lotus Sutra. The chapter states that, after making offerings to eight thousand Buddhas and then to "two hundred ten thousand million Buddhas", Maudgalyayana will become a Buddha with the name Tamalapattra Sandalwood Fragrance, whose kalpa and realm will be named Joy Replete and Mind Delight, respectively. The Sanskrit word tamalapattra or tamalapatra means the leaf of the tamala tree.
