According to the theory of five cosmic energies, all phenomena, whether in the macrocosmic or microcosmic world are established through the interplay of five elements and they all are dependent on these five elements for their material basis. The five elements are earth, water, fire, air and space.

It is important to understand that these elements are not the physio-chemical, material substances/phenomena but dynamic forces which deal more with the inherent energetical functions rather than their actual state.

The five elements in the body are related to the five elements in the environment. All the medicines are made involving four elements; earth, water, fire and air. When the elements in the human body are not in balance, the disease occurs.
