Heart Mantra of Amitayus Buddha or Buddha of Immeasurable Life: OM A MA RA NI JI WAN TI YE SOHA

Sadhana of Amitayus Buddha

Amitayus Buddha, the Buddha of Endless Life,
is also known as Western Tathagata Buddha of Immeasurable Life.

Amitayus Mudra (Dhyana mudra):
In this Mudra, the right palm rests upon the left palm, both facing upwards and held at the level slightly beneath the Dantien, the thumbs touching or almost touching at the tips and thus forming a triangle. [Please refer to the diagram above]

Root syllable:
Seh (hrih in Sanskrit)
[Please refer to the diagram above]
Mantra: Om Amarani Jiwantiye Soha

An introduction to the dharmalaksana or sacred physical attributes of Amitayus Buddha:

Amitayus Buddha, also known as Western Tathagata of Immeasurable Life]]. He manifests as a one head and two arm entity in red skin; the hair is rolled up in a topknot and wears a precious crown adorned with five Buddhas carved in precious metal and jewelry; and He`s cladded in a celestial upper garment and in a silk fabric lower skirt. In addition, He wears a precious jewel necklace as the centerpiece. Overall, all these manifestations are attributable to the integrity and solemnty of an all-round Dharmakaya Buddha. With a Longevity Treasure Vial placed in the center of His right palm, His both hands form a Dhyana mudra resting atop His knees. His feet double over forming a Vajra lotus position on top of a lotus dharma wheel. Amitayus Buddha is surrounded by four dakinis of four vajrayana dharma practices: namely, purification, enhancement, enthrallment and subjugation, whereby the essentials, longevity, meritorious privileges, wisdom and other virtues can be derived from the five elements: earth, water, fire, air and void.

The benefits of practicing Amitayus sadhana

According to the buddhist scriptures: reciting the mantra of Amitayus Buddhan can extend one`s life span and enhance one`s merits and wisdom; can avert accidental tragic death; can exonerate a person of all negative karmas; and can ascentain a deathless feat or be reborn in the Western Paradise.
Practicing the sadhana of Amitayus Buddha can also rid oneself of diseases; can lengthen one`s life span; can improve one`s positive and auspicious karmic affinity with others; can eliminate one`s negative karmic affinity with others; and can bring prosperity to one`s endeavors in the secular world.
Amitabha, Usnisha Vijaya, White Tara are the epitome of Great Compassion and Mercy and can thus impart health and security and felicity to people. They are collectively called the Tri-Longevity Buddhas or the Majestic Trio of Longevity.
