Visual examination consists of two principal aspects: Urine sample observation which involves analyzing the sediments, bubbles, color, scum etc in the morning urine sample. Tibetan physicians learn about internal disorders through identifying particles and nature of the urine.

They treat it like a mirror which reflects a clear picture of hot and cold nature of the disorder.

In the result, they can prescribe correct medicine for the prevailing disorder.Tongue observation. Each of the three humours has a different effect on the patient's tongue which can be visually detected by the physician.

Additional information is gathered through observation of general behaviour, body language and functions of the five senses of the patient in order to note any imbalances of the internal organs.
