Alexander I. Andreyev – a historian, specializing in the history of Buddhism in Russia, Russo-Tibetan relations, exploration of Central Asia, occultism in Russia.
PhD, senior research fellow, Institute for the history of science and technology, Russian Academy, St Petersburg; Director of Petr Kozlov Memorial Museum (St. Petersburg). Author of books: Ot Baikala do sviastchennoi Lhasy (St. Petersburg, 1997), Soviet Russia and Tibet: The Debacle of secret diplomacy (Leiden-Boston, 2003), Khram Buddy v Severnoi Stolitse (St. Petersburg, 2004), Okkultist Strany Sovetov (Moscow, 2004), Tibet v politike tsarskoi, sovetskoi i post-sovetskoi Rossii (St. Petersburg, 2006).
