Rules of Proper Behavior When Staying at Snowland

Please follow these rules when on Gyudmed grounds

Respect all life: do not intentionally kill any living being, even small insects.

Respect other's property: do not steal or take anything not freely given.

Be honest: do not lie or intentionally deceive others.

Be celibate: no sexual interactions while on the Gyudmed grounds.

  *Couples wishing to stay at Snowland are required to have separate rooms.

Do not use: cigarettes, alcohol, or drugs on the Gyudmed grounds.

No excitable media of any kind: including violent or pornographic movies or computer content.

No singing or playing music: including radios (unless used with earphones).

Always be kind: Be sensitive and respectful to monks and others.

Remember you're in India: try to be accepting of the difficulties studying in India present.

Please be considerate of our monks

Remember our monks receive a very special training here at Gyudmed. There is no violence, crime, worries or improper media of any kind. Ours is a peaceful and worry free environment to live in, this allows our monks to focus solely on their studies.

Proper Etiquette towards monks

Please be aware of your dress - don't wear any revealing clothing.

Please do not engage in - acts of public affection or harsh or suggestive speech.

Keep noise to a minimum - around rooms and monks.

Do not touch monks - Keep a polite distance when talking with monks.

Women should not - walk alone or be in a room alone with one monk.

Please do not entice monks - with worldly concerns, pleasures or interests.

Temple etiquette

Do not - point your feet towards teachers, altars or any holy objects.

Do not - put Dharma materials on the floor, or where it can be sat on.

Do not - lie down or do stretching or yoga in the temple.

Do not - chit-chat in the temple.

To expel any student who behaves improperly, disrupts the education, training or ethics of its monks or students or is disruptive to the peaceful and gentle environment at Gyudmed
