    Three brothers of the village of Uruvilvanear Gayaa city of Magadha in India, who converted to Shakyamuni's teachings during his early days of preaching. They are UruvilvaKashyapa, NadiKashyapa, and GayaKashyapa. For twelve years (six years by another account), they practiced fire worship in the forest. When Shakyamuni Buddha came to Uruvilvato preach shortly after his enlightenment, the three brothers received instruction from him and became his followers. At the same time, UruvilvaKashyapa's five hundred disciples, NadiKashyapa's three hundred disciples, and GayaKashyapa's two hundred disciples—one thousand disciples in all—also converted to the Buddha's teachings. They were the third group of individuals to convert to the Buddha's teachings; the five ascetics who heard Shakyamuni's first sermon at Deer Park following his enlightenment were the first. After the five ascetics, the next to convert was Yashas along with his fifty friends.

 A disciple of the Buddha. One of the 4 Bikshu. The third of the 7 manushibuddhas. He was originally an Indian Brahmin who converted to Buddhism. This hermit was Uruvilva Kashyapa. His two brothers, Gaya Kashyapa and Nadi Kashyapa converted to Buddhism at the same time. He maintained that the Buddha's death was the cause of an earthquake. The Buddha gave him his golden gown to hold in trust for the coming of the future Buddha, Maitreya. He was said to have lived for 20,000 years and is depicted as an old man holding a staff and a scroll. Known as Kashyapa, Kashiapa, Kashiapa, Kashyapa, Kashyapa, Kasyapa, Kasyapa, Kashyapa, Kashyapa, Maya Kasyapa, Mahakasyapa, Mahakasyapa, Kashyapa, Nadi Kashyapa, Nadi Kashyapa, Old Tortoise Man, Old Tortoise Man or Kashyapa.


 Great Maudgalyayana arose from his seat, bowed at the Buddha's feet, and said to the Buddha, "Once when I was out on the road begging for food, I met the three Kashyapa brothers 'Uruvilva, Gaya, and Nadi' who proclaimed for me the Thus Come One's profound principle of causes and conditions. I immediately brought forth resolve and obtained a great understanding."
