“Jobutsu” means the realization of buddhahood, or to become Buddha.
Enlightenment is not an other-worldly truth that is attained via a mystical experience. Instead, enlightenment involves an outstanding awareness of that which is already around us and present in the world.
"Jobutsu"means "to become a Buddha" in Japanese.

Sokushin jobutsu is this very + body+ attain + buddha englightenment.
Literally "this very body attaining buddha".
It was stated that Kukai believed esoteric practice enabled one to be enlightened here and now.
For Kukai this is a natural consequence of the theory of original enlightenment.
If a practitioner is able to cultivate the proper actions in accord with the three mysteries and join in communion with the Nyorai, then he has attained enlightenment in this very body - Sokushin jobutsu.
The crucial point is that enlightenment is not some other-worldly truth to be grasped via a mystical experience.
Rather, it involves a keen awareness of that which is already present.
