Tibetan Buddhist Encyclopedia is now 14 years old

Our Encyclopedia recently received a wonderful opportunity for a major renewal on its 14th birthday . After many years of growing our Encyclopedia had become bit slow and sometimes even decided not to answer when people knocked on the door.

A very big thank you and blessings to Dmytro Rudiy (rudiy.nl) for his great work in upgrading the server, website and all of the infrastructure and helping make TBE fast and reliable again for everyone!

We kindly ask our readers to help us cover the cost of this important upgrade and also help with the ongoing costs of keeping the Encyclopedia alive and freely available.

Pärnumaal Veltsas tegutsevad ja Eesti vanimat budistlikku ühendust Eesti Nijngma vedavad Vello Väärtnõu ja Marju Broder on homme-ülehomme Tallinna ülikoolis korraldamas järjekordset rahvusvahelist konverentsi "Budism ja Põhjala".

Kõne alla võetakse seekord budistlik tühjuseteooria ja tantrad, chan-budismi areng ja iidne kalligraafiakunst Hiinas.

Broderi sõnutsi tuleb jutuks Rolpai Dorje müstiline lugu tsatsa kujudega, Kajo Zendo Soomes ja budism argielus. Vaadeldakse Peterburi, Läti ja Ungari budismi, Tiibeti meditsiini korüfeesid Burjaatias ning Tiibeti meditsiini dialoogi tänapäevase biomeditsiiniga.

Paljudest riikidest kohale tulnud lektoreil on tavaks astuda konverentsi järel läbi Pärnumaalt Veltsastki. Konverents on arvult viies.

Vello Väärtnõu and Marju Broder, who live and work at Veltsa in Pärnumaa and lead Eesti Nijngma, the oldest Buddhist association in Estonia, are organising the next international conference "Buddhism and Nordland" at Tallinn University tomorrow and the day after.

This time the topics include the Buddhist theory of emptiness and the tantras, the development of Chan Buddhism and the ancient art of calligraphy in China.

According to Broder, the mystical story of Rolpai Dorje with tsatsa figures, Kajo Zendo in Finland and Buddhism in everyday life will also come up. Buddhism in St Petersburg, Latvia and Hungary will be examined, as well as the luminaries of Tibetan medicine in Buryatia and the dialogue of Tibetan medicine with modern biomedicine.

The lecturers who have come from many countries usually also drop in at Veltsa in Pärnumaa after the conference. This is the fifth conference.[1]

Notes

  1. ↑ The conference took place on 15 and 16 September 2011 (see the annual report of MTÜ Eesti Njingma for 2011). The longer interview with Marju Broder before the same conference is on TBE: Nordic Buddhists gathering for conference - Estonian Press 11.09.2011.
