Tibetan Buddhist Encyclopedia is now 14 years old
Our Encyclopedia recently received a wonderful opportunity for a major renewal on its 14th birthday . After many years of growing our Encyclopedia had become bit slow and sometimes even decided not to answer when people knocked on the door.
A very big thank you and blessings to Dmytro Rudiy (rudiy.nl) for his great work in upgrading the server, website and all of the infrastructure and helping make TBE fast and reliable again for everyone!
We kindly ask our readers to help us cover the cost of this important upgrade and also help with the ongoing costs of keeping the Encyclopedia alive and freely available.

Hell (Niraya), Hungry-Ghost (Pretas), Animal, Asura (Deities; Titans),
Eastern Purva-Videha Continent,
Southern Jambuvipa Continent (Earth),
Western Godana Continent,
Northern Uttara-Kura Continent (5-8 represents the realms with human inhabitants surrounding the central Mt. Sumeru;
location of Desire Heavens),
9. Heaven of Four Kings (first Desire Heaven),
Trayastrimsa Heaven (Heaven of Thirty-Three Kings,
Yama Heaven,
Tusita Heaven (Fourth Desire Heaven),
Transformation of Bliss Heaven (Nirmanarati), Comfort Gained Through Transformation of Others’ Bliss Heaven (Paranirmitavasavartin);
Form World has Seven Realms:
First Dhyana Heaven,
Second Dhyana Heaven,
Third Dhyana Heaven,
Fourth Dhyana Heaven (within each Heaven there are several sub-level Heavens),
Maha-Brahma Heaven, No-Thought Heaven, Pure Domain of Anagami Enlightenment (has five levels; these enlightened beings are one step from Arhathood: first enlightenment of true liberation from the cycle of rebirths).
Formlessness World has Four Realms:
Infinite Space Heaven, Infinite Consciousness Heaven, Nothing Whatsoever Heaven, Neither Thought Nor Non-Thought Heaven.
Form World (Sac Gioi) has Seven Realms:
First Dhyana Heaven (So Thien Thien),
a. Bramaparsadya (Multitudes of Brahma Heaven, Pham-Chung Thien),
b. Brahmapurohita (Ministers of Brahma Heaven, Pham-Phu Thien), and
c. Mahabrahma (Great Brahma Lord Heaven, Pham-Vuong Thien).
Second Dhyana Heaven (Nhi-Thien Thien),
a. Parittabha (Lesser Light Heaven, Thieåu-Quang Thieân)
b. Apramanabha (Infinite Light Heaven, Voâ Löôïng Quang Thieân)

c. Brhatphala (Abundant Fruit Heaven ; Quaûng Quaû Thieân)
