Tibetan Buddhist Encyclopedia is now 14 years old

Our Encyclopedia recently received a wonderful opportunity for a major renewal on its 14th birthday . After many years of growing our Encyclopedia had become bit slow and sometimes even decided not to answer when people knocked on the door.

A very big thank you and blessings to Dmytro Rudiy (rudiy.nl) for his great work in upgrading the server, website and all of the infrastructure and helping make TBE fast and reliable again for everyone!

We kindly ask our readers to help us cover the cost of this important upgrade and also help with the ongoing costs of keeping the Encyclopedia alive and freely available.

gold-wheel-turning king

金輪王・金輪聖王; (Jpn konrin-o or konrin-jo’o )

Also, gold-wheel-turning sage king. The foremost ruler among the four types of wheel-turning kings, the other three being silver-wheel-turning kings, copper-wheel-turning kings, and iron-wheel-turning kings.

The number of continents each king rules differs according to his rank. A gold-wheel-turning king rules over the four continents surrounding Mount Sumeru.

A silver-wheel-turning king rules three of the four continents, a copper-wheel-turning king rules two, and an iron-wheel-turning king rules one continent.

While turning his gold wheel, a gold-wheel-turning king advances at will and establishes peace.

The term wheel-turning king often indicates a gold-wheel-turning king. See also wheel-turning king.
