Tibetan Buddhist Encyclopedia is now 14 years old

Our Encyclopedia recently received a wonderful opportunity for a major renewal on its 14th birthday . After many years of growing our Encyclopedia had become bit slow and sometimes even decided not to answer when people knocked on the door.

A very big thank you and blessings to Dmytro Rudiy (rudiy.nl) for his great work in upgrading the server, website and all of the infrastructure and helping make TBE fast and reliable again for everyone!

We kindly ask our readers to help us cover the cost of this important upgrade and also help with the ongoing costs of keeping the Encyclopedia alive and freely available.

Prophecies of Siddhattha Buddha, Tissa Buddha and Phussa Buddha

After Dhammadassi Buddha had left his earthy body for about ninety millions years, there was a new Buddha named Siddhattha. Mangala was a powerful hermit. He offered java plums to Siddhattha Buddha. After Siddhattha Buddha had eaten the plums, he foretold that, about ninety four millions years from that time, Mangala would be Gautama Buddha.

Almost two millions years passed, there was a new Buddha named Tissa. Our Gautama Buddha was a rich king. He decided to become a hermit and had a lot of magical power. He heard that there was a Buddha, so he brought celestial flowers, royal lotus and Coral flowers and offered them to Tissa Buddha. Tissa Buddha foretold that the hermit would be Gautama Buddha in about ninety millions years.

In the same millions years period, there was a new Buddha named Phussa. In those days, Gautama Buddha was a king named Wijitawee. He abandoned the throne and became a monks in Phussa Buddha’s religious. Phussa Buddha had foretold that he would be Gautama Buddha in the future.
