Tibetan Buddhist Encyclopedia is now 14 years old

Our Encyclopedia recently received a wonderful opportunity for a major renewal on its 14th birthday . After many years of growing our Encyclopedia had become bit slow and sometimes even decided not to answer when people knocked on the door.

A very big thank you and blessings to Dmytro Rudiy (rudiy.nl) for his great work in upgrading the server, website and all of the infrastructure and helping make TBE fast and reliable again for everyone!

We kindly ask our readers to help us cover the cost of this important upgrade and also help with the ongoing costs of keeping the Encyclopedia alive and freely available.

Taklung Tsetrul Rinpoche

Taklung Tsetrul Rinpoche (b. 1926) is a Tibetan lama and the current Supreme Head of the Nyingma School of Tibetan Buddhism. He received the highest Dzogchen teachings from Polu Khenpo Dorje, a direct disciple of Khenpo Ngakchung.

"Kyabje Taklung Tsetrul Rinpoche, throneholder of the Dorje Drak monastery, accepted the position of the Supreme Head of Nyingmapa, the “Old Translation Tradition” in Tibetan Buddhism [22 March, 2012]. He is following Kyabje Dudjom Rinpoche, Kyabje Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche, Kyabje Drubwang Pema Norbu Rinpoche, Kyabje Mindrolling Trichen Rinpoche, and then finally Kyabje Trulshik Rinpoche, who passed away late last year."

Taklung Tsetrul Rinpoche was born in the central part of Tibet, near the famous lake called Yardrok where Guru Rinpoche left his handprint, in 1926 and was recognised as an incarnation of the great master Ngok Chöku Dorje. Close to his birthplace, in the region known as Taklung, was the prominent Taklung Tse monastic center affiliated with Thubten Dorje Drak Monastery, which he is considered a head of. He lives in exile in Simla, Himachal Pradesh and Ladakh.
