Treatise on the Stages of Yoga Practice
Tibetan Buddhist Encyclopedia is now 14 years old
Our Encyclopedia recently received a wonderful opportunity for a major renewal on its 14th birthday . After many years of growing our Encyclopedia had become bit slow and sometimes even decided not to answer when people knocked on the door.
A very big thank you and blessings to Dmytro Rudiy (rudiy.nl) for his great work in upgrading the server, website and all of the infrastructure and helping make TBE fast and reliable again for everyone!
We kindly ask our readers to help us cover the cost of this important upgrade and also help with the ongoing costs of keeping the Encyclopedia alive and freely available.

Treatise on the Stages of Yoga Practice, The
瑜伽師地論 (Skt Yogacharabhumi; Chin Yü-ch’ieh-shih-ti-lun; Jpn Yugashiji-ron )
A work attributed to either Maitreya or Asanga and translated into Chinese in the mid-seventh century by Hsüan-tsang. One of the principal treatises of the Dharma Characteristics (Chin Fa-hsiang; Jpn Hosso) school, it consists
of one hundred volumes and elucidates the seventeen stages through which the practitioners of the Consciousness-Only Doctrine advance toward Enlightenment. The work quotes the Revelation of the Profound Secrets Sutra and explains the [[Consciousness-
Only Doctrine, particularly with respect to the Alaya-Consciousness. Yogic practice was the chief discipline of the Consciousness-Only School, hence the title of this work.
